Shannon grew up in Seymour, Tennessee and graduated with 37 students in her class. She was raised by two of the most loving and caring Taiwanese parents who are constantly reminding her the importance of gratitude, humility, and compassion. She graduated from DePaul University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business/Accounting and started her career at Ernst & Young as a fraud investigator in Chicago. After living for many years in the Windy City, she decided to relocate to sunny Los Angeles recently (2018) and continue working towards her entrepreneurial dream (it’s a secret project!) In her spare time, she enjoys testing and perfecting baking recipes, reading cookbooks, working on her rusty singing and guitar playing, and catching up on shows!
Jasmine is currently a middle school ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Niles, IL for 7th and 8th grade. She is from Naperville, IL but is currently a resident of Norwood Park which means more fun Chicago activities! She has a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist from Olivet Nazarene University. 2019 will be her 9th year at TAF, and her 8th year in the Juniors program. She is especially passionate about the juniors program not only because it’s a chance to be a kid again, but also because it’s a chance to provide safe, fun, learning spaces for young minds to grow and develop their cultural identities. In her free time she practices circus arts, watches movies, and hangs out with her family and siblings who are also long time TAF goers.
