High School students
The mission of the Youth Program is to foster personal growth and leadership development of high school-aged students by developing their potential for critical thought and action to better serve their peers and society. The Youth Program is designed to provide a safe space and family-like community in which peers can explore who they are and have the potential to become. It is the goal of the Youth program and its dedicated staff to ensure that all campers have an opportunity to make friends and have fun at TAF, but more importantly, take away something from camp that will affect them year-round. Furthermore, Youth campers have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by organizing workshops and regular activities such as Choir and Swing Choir (choreographed dance) as well as by working on TAF-wide projects such as yearbook, slideshow, newsletter, and TAF Night.
Q: I'm going to be in the 9th grade. Should I be in Junior High or the Youth program?
A: The Junior High program. Youth is for TAFers who have already completed their first year in high school.
Q: I'm going to be a freshman in college. Is the youth program for me?
A: Absolutely. Youth is for TAFers who are in high school or are underclassmen in college. As a college student, however, you also have the option of becoming a participant in the tafLabs program.
Q: I heard that many Youth campers know each other from the Junior High program. Will I feel left out if I didn't do JH?
A: The Youth program puts focus on small groups and activities that make it easy to meet and get to know other campers. Many TAFers who have come for multiple years started in the Youth program and continue to attend TAF.
Q: What Coordinator positions can I apply for this year?
A: Choir, Group Games, Hospitality, Newsletter, Slideshow, Swing Choir, TAF Night, and Yearbook
Q: Who can I contact if I have more questions?
A: The Youth Program Directors are Ming Young and Alex Yang. Please email all inquiries to them at youth@tafworld.org.
